Thank you for clarifying the facts and dispelling the myth. I agree with you. I have several friends who are here because their parents brought them over from mexico. They are a valid member of society and not someone to fear. I have however seen many people give false social security numbers only so they can work but still a crime. I work for a CPA and see it all the time. So this begs the question , why not help them became legal citizens instead ? I don't know if many people know this but I heard from someone a number of years ago that it takes thousands of dollars in attorney fee's to become a citizen. Who has that kind of money ? lets make it more affordable and help them rather than hurt.

Obviously from the sounds of the meeting my husband went to -The planning commission are going to approve it and there is nothing we can do about it. They refused to hear certain things that residents were saying. which speaks volumes to me. I'm just concerned about the traffic congestion it will cause and noise ordinance.

The him is the guy they said in the report. Says 30 year old male in the news article. Also you should know the percentage of false claims in a sexual assault is around 2-10%. why do you assume they are lying? just because they are a teen?

I so will not be voting for these guys this next voting season. The minimum wage offered now doesn't provide for family's and makes people a part of the working poor. The orchard people I know around here make plenty of money to pay that and usually do already on their own. We need a working wage around here in Hood River.

sad and tragic for all involved. you do realize you're calling the victim a liar though. They must have had enough evidence to hold him on $100,000 bail and they don't usually do that unless there is significant evidence. The fact that he died before there was any trial just leaves the victim without answers and unable to confront their attacker. Really sad all around.
