I'm am truly disappointed with the writer, editors, and publisher for not practicing due diligence or sound journalistic practices in protecting the privacy of crime victims. I imagine the writer is inexperienced for an experienced writer would not even consider putting such details in a story. I can't believe the editor was so inattentive to let that information stay in copy and go to press. I further suspect that in-house training of privacy protection procedure probably hasn't been conducted recently so top management should share the blame in this fiasco as well.

In my opinion, a shabby "mia culpa" article just doesn't satisfactorily remedy the harm done by this violation of privacy and further undermines public trust and confidence in The Hood River News. I hope some "mia culpa" compensation is being considered to demonstrate The Hood River News' true contriteness for its negligent failing.
