Editor, and Citizens of Hood River,

If I were the Juvenile Court Judge that will rule on the punishment for the Child that started the devastating Eagle Creek fire, I would sentence him to the Juvenile lock-up; have him hire a tutor to guide him through all his required school work, until the end of this school year; and then place him on a tree planting, or trail crew, to begin repairing the damage he caused. If children his age are allowed to pick berries, I feel that he should be able to do trail work, or tree planting. All of his minimum wage earnings should be turned over to the County to begin paying for the damage he caused. I am not a Juvenile Court Judge; but, I am a parent. This Child needs to have limits set if he is ever to become a responsible, productive adult. And, he needs to feel the financial pain for the damage he caused.
