At last Monday's county commission meeting the Sheriff's department gave the commissioners a tour of the departments new mobile communication vehicle. Deputies had tested everything out before bringing it down for the tour, so naturally when they attempted to turn on the rig's external screen for the commission and county staff to ooh and ah...it refused to work.
Just as everyone was about to give up and get out of the rain, the screen finally came to life to sighs of relief.
In all seriousness though, the vehicle is pretty neat, the county got it for a good price and volunteer Tom Rousseau spent over 300 hours helping to retrofit what had been a Lane County rescue rig into a high tech mobile communications center.
