Ben's Babbles

Back to babbling

Nearly five months after my last post on this blog, it's time to get back to babbling.

I know it was just under five months because I tossed up my last post on Friday afternoon, March 15 and went home for the weekend thinking that I had things in order, and would have time to post a few more blog entries over the coming weeks.

Of course that Sunday morning (St. Patricks Day!) I found myself on the way to the hospital with my wife because our first child decided she wanted to come into the world a few weeks earlier than we had planned.

The next four-plus months have been a whirlwind. First there was the whole taking care of a newborn thing -- believe it or not, that tends to take up a lot of one's time -- then after a month of parental leave I started a new position within Eagle Newspapers, the parent company of the Hood River News.

I am now the Digital Media Director for Eagle Newspapers, overseeing the launch of new websites for five papers within the Eagle family while working to develop new content and strategies for our online endeavors.

Between learning to take care of a beautiful baby (I had no idea you could function on two hours of sleep!) and hitting the ground running in my new job, there was not much time for blogging.

Then last week I had all of old blog entries wiped out due to some technical difficulties. I figured that meant now was as good a time as any to get back in the swing of things.

What will I babble about now? Well probably the occasional quip about fatherhood. Some sports. Some thoughts on media in the modern age. Whatever babblings happen to come across my mind.

It will be fun, it will be different and I invite you to come along for a whole new adventure.
