Results are in for the May 17 Primary Election Ballot, which saw the victory of two countywide ballot measures, as well as a win for Mark Reynolds (D-Odell) as Democratic candidate in the House District 52 race to square off against Mark Johnson (R-Hood River) in November.

Measure 14-55, which prohibits large-scale commercial water bottling companies, passed with what Local Water Alliance called a “landslide” victory — 69 percent of the vote.

Precincts in Hood River and outlying communities, including Odell and Parkdale, passed the water measure, but it failed in Cascade Locks (Precinct 12,) with 58 percent voting “no.”

Measure 14-58, a Hood River County School District facility bond, passed with 71 percent of the vote. It will not raise the current assessed tax rate.

In the House District 52 race, Reynolds beat Walt Trandum (D-Sandy) for the Democratic bid with 74 percent of the vote. He is set to face off against Mark Johnson (R-Hood River) in the November election.

The district spans from east Gresham to Hood River. Johnson was first elected to the House in 2010.

A Mt. Hood Community College facilities bond failed by 56 percent of votes.

The Justice of the Peace post in Cascade Locks position was secured by John Harvey, with 61 percent of the vote against Brad Lorang’s 21 percent and Donna Mohr’s 17 percent.
