Dragon Dash

Runners catch their breath Wednesday in front of May Street Elementary during Dragon Dash, an annual fundraiser held throughout the day. Students run laps around the school, having gathered pledges, with the funds turned over to Parent Teacher Organization. Funds will be used for health, wellness and physical fitness programs. “We had a very successful event,” Principal Kelly Beard said. “We needed, and received, plenty of extra help from parents due to the fact that the school is an active construction site, and we got great cooperation from the construction crews to ensure kids’ safety. The weather was great and the kids had a blast.” It was last of the annual fitness events at the current campus; a new May Street Elementary is under construction, and the existing school will be torn down this summer.
