Last Day of School

May Street first-graders line up to take a field trip to the Oregon Zoo on Friday, decked out in fresh tie-dye. Tuesday completed the 2018-19 Hood River County School District year, a week late due to snow days needing to be added to the calendar. The year saw major changes in the district, from the hiring of a new superintendent to the construction of a new May Street School — the old one goes into demolition mode this week, once students and staff have vacated. On July 1, Dr. Sara Hahn-Hutson will succeed Dan Goldman after six years as superintendent of the district. At his final school board meeting June 12, Goldman thanked students, board and staff, saying, “The future for our schools is very bright.”
