Thunder Island Brewing

Thunder Island Brewing Company breaks ground, with help from a dust-raising backhoe, Tuesday at its future brewery and resturant site on WaNaPa Avenue, just west of the Overlook Park-Post Office complex. Owners Dave Lipps and Carolyn Park, right, welcomed a crowd of about 200 people who enjoyed tacos and Thunder Island IPA and Apricot Wheat ales. Construction is expected to start in about a week, with completion “sometime in 2020,” Lipps said. He and Park founded the brewery six years ago and it has outgrown its Port of Cascade Locks incubator space overlooking the nameside Thunder Island. The brewery also unveiled its new brand, with dark blue shield and lettering, and bright yellow flash between the initials T and B.
