The ongoing obstacle course that is the City of Hood River waterline replacement project will continue on and around the project’s main focal points: Sherman and Serpentine streets.

School starts Aug. 30, and there’s bound to be some enjoyment in that, but for a few remaining tips to get the most out of your summer, here are some things going on in the next week, starting with morning, afternoon and evening events on Aug. 27:

The Hood River Education Foundation hosts its “Get Outside for Education” fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 1-4 p.m. at Waterfront Park. Family fun includes a Zorb “human hamster ball,” a dry land obstacle course, slack line, raffle and prizes.

Nearly a dozen people representing the Gorge not only competed in, but survived the Pac West Spartan Sprint Race in Washoughal earlier this month, enduring a “race” that was really more like a sadistic obstacle course.
