The last time the Hood River Valley volleyball team was at home, it was the Eagles’ league opener and they matched up with the second ranked team in 5A state standings, Crook County.

HRV basketball teams were unable to avoid season sweeps by Pendleton Tuesday night, with both Buckaroo teams proving formidable Columbia River Conference opponents for the Eagles. At home, the boys lost 93-51 and the girls lost 71-33 on the road.

Scoring in league action at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes has definitely been a challenge for just about everybody, but we’re only a few weeks into the season. So, it will get better, just hang in there, bowlers — you’ve still got a few weeks to go to get into mid-season form. Maybe, try some practice?

Hood River Valley junior hurler Ryan Ward pitched his first complete game no-hitter to help lead the Eagles to a 4-0 win over arch rival The Dalles-Wahtonka Eagle Indians in the opening contest of Columbia River Conference baseball doubleheader. HRV’s success continued in game two, as four pitchers combined on a one-hitter in a 6-5 win to help coach Eric Harjo’s Eagles earn the impressive sweep Saturday at HRV’s Traner Field.

With the final league race of the season Saturday at Skibowl and league awards to follow the same day, Hood River Valley High School Ski Team is all but assured a clean sweep in both team and individual league championship honors.
